The
Delta Area Association for Improvement of Schools (DAAIS)
is a regional consortium of
educational institutions in the geographic region
known as the Mississippi Delta.

Delta Area School Boards Association (DASBA)
serves
DAAIS
school board members. A concerted effort has been made to keep the
organization informal and interesting, as well as, to work closely
with the Mississippi School Boards Association (MSBA). These
efforts have been successful in maintaining active participation and
interest in the organization.
The DASBA
meets four times per year—twice in the Fall and twice in the
Spring. The dinner meetings are held on the DSU campus, and the
meetings, meals, and programs are coordinated by the Executive
Director of DAAIS.
A notice is sent to each DAAIS
superintendent reminding him/her of the upcoming meeting. The
superintendent then completes a reservation form indicating the
number of participants that will be attending the dinner meetings
from his/her school district. The superintendent may mail a check
for payment of the meals back with the reservation form or may bring
a check for the meals to the meeting. Checks are to be made payable
to Delta State University.
Cancellation
of meal reservations can be made by phone (662-846-4354) no later
than two days prior to the day of the meeting. If cancellations are
not made within this time frame, the school district is expected to
pay for the prepared meal.
Since there
are no dues, the only funds handled by the organization are payment
for meals. Checks for meals are made payable to DSU and deposited
into an account at DSU under the name of the Delta Area School
Boards Association. The accounting of funds received and dispersed
is maintained by DAAIS and the DSU Business Office. The account is
audited annually as part of the DSU audit system |
